For Alexander

For Alexander

In memory of my dearest nephew, Alex Bobo

And unto us, like a miracle, you were given.

Lesser than an angel by just a half of an inch;

Especially with the exuberance of your vanilla essence.

Xmas that year was the best of all we ever had

And like that shining star that drew the shepherds, you lit our worlds.

Now, a year and some fortnights from that day, you are no more.

Deborah misses a brother; your parents a son, and I my “Daddy”.

Expectant, however, we all are that you will dry these unceasing tears.

Remember, Alexander, that we are waiting…waiting…

Hello,

I’m Tèmítọ́pẹ́

As a central analytic for the work of the institutional ethnographer, standpoint foregrounds the ways individuals are unique and therefore uniquely experience the broad social relations and institutional circuits in which they are embedded.
Standpoint recognizes that how people negotiate their social circumstances as professionals is entirely wrapped up in their ways of being in the world—who we are, what we know, how we are seen by others, our designated roles, and how we have been credentialed or come by our experiences all play a role in how we carry out our daily work.
